A peaceful front bedroom decorated in a floral of lavender and greens. The queen size bed is fitted with white luxury linens. The two front
windows overlook Pollock Street which, in a few blocks, is central in the downtown area. The room includes a game table/ writing desk, a love
seat and ottoman an antique chest with mirror and an attached bathroom just for you. The bathroom is spacious and is equipped with a
tub/shower. Let this room be a beacon to your peace of mind and comfort while you stay here in New Bern.  A beacon reminds us of the
lighthouses that line the Carolina coast and keep us safe from unseen dangers when we are at sea, hence the name of the room.
(Amenities)
A cheerful room decorated in yellow and blue checks and stripes. The double size bed is fitted with white luxury linens. The window looks out
into a pecan tree next to the house which provides a shady light source. The room boasts a charming window seat to sit and dream in. A
small table and folding chairs are the perfect place to sit at your laptop or with your postcards to write home. An Amish bentwood rocker
gives you another place to sit and relax. The bed, two chests and mirror are mahogany antiques that add beauty to the room. The bathroom
in the hallway is private or, in the European Style, is shared with the Magnolia Room when it is occupied. The bedroom dresser top was
perfectly completed when the owner sat her porcelain girl figure dressed in yellow on it.  Noticing the girl's name on the label is Caroline, the
name for the room was evident - a fitting tribute to the Carolinian territory which became our state.

Entry/Hallway
When you come into the house, the bright colors greet you. The red walls surrounded by white bead-board wainscotting are enhanced by the
bright floral hand-hooked rugs. An old trunk with original owners address sits in the entry under the coat rack. A family heirloom handmade
antique chest sits under a mirror across from the trunk.  In the hallway, two servers provide a place for a pot of fresh coffee which is always
ready and provide the location for the continental breakfast in the mornings. A small refrigerator/freezer in the hall keeps sodas and ice
always at hand.  The art pieces on the wall are by local artists. We would love to tell you about them.

Gathering Room
Mission style is an early 20th century furniture style that defines the best in simple oak furnishings. Our table and chairs, love-seat,
deacon's bench and magazine table are modern examples of quality mission furnishings. Handmade in California, from quarter-sawn oak,
the love-seat and bench are a perfect place to sit and leaf through the tour books of New Bern on our shelves or just chat with the owners
or other guests. We have games to play at the table and magazines about the area to browse through. If you forgot your book to read, we
have some to loan you, many by the local author, Nicholas Sparks. There is a supply of current and classic movie DVDs you can borrow
and enjoy in the privacy of your bedroom.  The mission style rocker is a family heirloom.  Mom Skelton rocked many a grandchild in that
rocker.  The roll-top desk in the corner serves as our office and a telephone is at your disposal here. You will notice the light fixtures accent
the furnishings.  Several are Tiffany style, a lamp, a swag and a pole light that really brighten up the room. The oak mantel with mirror
surrounding the fireplace is the room's centerpiece.
(Amenities)
The ‘Fairest Flower in the South’ is a fitting home for this lovely room’s namesake. The room color, a light mint green, is a soothing color to
relax in and enjoy the magnolia related décor. The two rear corner windows provide ample light to brighten daytime enjoyment. The Queen
Bed is fitted with white luxury linens and a fresh duvet cover for each new arrival makes nighttime a restful occasion. The room has all the
modern amenities you would expect for your convenience, yet there are the ‘heart of pine’ wood floors and custom milled woodwork that
makes it clear that you are in a Historic house. The bathroom in the hallway is private or, in the European Style, is shared with the Caroline
Room when it is occupied. A platform cane seated rocker beside a window, invites you to take some time to read and ponder the outdoor
surroundings. The furnishings completing the room are from grandma Skelton’s house where she worked her seamstress’ magic on her
Singer sewing machine still in it’s original cabinet and the vanity where she sat holding her toddler granddaughter in her lap as she put on
her “rouge” and curled her hair with “bobby pins”..
